Alton Loyd "Al" Holtz

ALTON LOYD “AL” HOLTZ, 95, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, in Bellville.

He was born October 30, 1927, in Bellville, Texas, the son of Richard and Lillie Brau Holtz. Al grew up in Bellville, and attended Roach Prairie Elementary School in Burleigh, later graduating from Bellville High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country from January 1946 until he was honorably discharged in December 1947. Al also attended Texas A&M University and the University of Houston. Al was employed as an Auditor in the oil and gas industry.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ruby Willrodt, in Bellville, Texas. They made their home in the Burleigh area, where Al raised cattle and ranched all his life. He was a member of the Bellville Methodist Church.

Al is survived by his brother: Waldo Holtz of Fort Worth; sister: Laverne Uhlig of Houston; nephews: Harold Schulke, Gerald Schulke, Ronnie Hollien, Dana Hollien, Gregory Holtz, Steven Holtz, and Michael Uhlig; nieces: Rebecca Huddleston, Celeste Hamlin, Debbie Pinkard, Diana Collingsworth, and Michelle Berry; and numerous other family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Ruby Holtz; parents: Richard and Lillie Holtz, brothers: Owen Holtz, and Monroe Holtz; sisters: Evelyn Schulke Gutkowski, and Hazel Hollien; and nephew: Wayne Schulke.


Pallbearers are Harold Schulke, Gerald Schulke, Ronnie Hollien, Dana Hollien, Michael Uhlig, and Gregory Holtz.

Honorary Pallbearers are Andrew, Ava, and Mia Iglesias.
