Arthur LaBruce Sampson passed away peacefully on August 5, 2019 at home in Bellville surrounded by his loving wife Laurie, and family by his side.
Arthur was born on November 5, 1939 in Houston, Texas to John L. and Marie Sampson. He graduated from Cy-Fair High School where he was an outstanding athlete in football, basketball, and track. During high school Arthur worked on the Bolin family dairy. He served in the Army, Company A, 2nd Division where he was honorably discharged in 1964. When he returned from the service he worked in route sales. He married Laurie Bolin on March 30, 1979.
Arthur is survived by his wife Laurie Bolin Sampson, son Shannon Sampson and wife Tonya of Cypress, Daughters: Ginger Fisher and fiancé Jon Lynn of Kenney, Anna Krueger and husband Chris of Bellville, and Julie Swoboda and husband Blake of Houston. Nine grandchildren: Dustin Burkhalter and fiancé Jennifer Smith, Stephanie Golightly; Marissa, Alyssa, and Kasey Sampson; Jonah, Elizabeth, Micah, and Evelynn Swoboda.
Arthur was loved by everyone including numerous nieces and nephews that looked forward to seeing their Uncle Arthur and his smile.
He and Laurie retired to Bellville in 2011 from Cypress. They loved dancing, camping, boating, seeing 33 of the National Parks, and cruising around in their Corvette. They have enjoyed watching all sports especially if the grand kids were playing.
He believed in living life to the fullest and making the best of every situation. His greatest specialty has been his “papaw” pancakes that he has made with pride to spoil his grandkids. Arthur was a strong man physically and spiritually, which helped him in his battle with lung cancer. His positive outlook and infectious smile will always be remembered.
