BARBARA JEAN (HABY) OWEN, 89, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
She was born November 6, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Rufus Jacob and Gerardine Carolyn Sievers Haby. Barbara grew up and attended schools in the San Antonio area, graduating from St. Gerards Catholic School.
She was employed as a secretary in the oil and gas industry. Upon retirement, Barbara moved from Alief, Texas to Brenham, Texas where she became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Barbara was a member of the Altar Society, Red Hat Ladies, and Happy Hikers. In her spare time, she enjoyed all types of puzzles, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and had a passion for golf.
Barbara was a recipient of the Yellow Rose of Texas from Governor Abbott.
She is survived by her children: Jeanne Rodriguez and her husband, Jaime, of Sugar Land, Mark Owen and his wife, Joan Renee, of Bellville, David Owen and his wife, Carol Jean, of Katy, Mike Owen and his wife, Janet, of Richardson, Carol Keeney and her husband, Bill, of Lorena, and Jacob Owen and his wife, Shani, of Acworth, Georgia; grandchildren: Heather Reep, Heidi Owen, Rebecca Fruchtnicht, Chad Owen, Meghan Largent, Briana Kessler, Dayton Owen, Brennen Owen, Garrick Owen, Philip Keeney, Conner Keeney, Sr., Abigail Keeney, Zachary Owen, and Sydney Owen; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters: Martha Corcoran of Boerne, and Suzie Krisak of Schertz; brother: Gerry Haby of Houston; and numerous other family members and dear friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: Rufus and Gerardine Haby, three sisters, Dorothy ‘Totsy’ Miller, Mary Joan Hahn, Majorie McNeill and great grandson Ethan Reep.
Pallbearers are Evan Reep, Wayne Reep, Brennen Owen, Chad Owen, Dayton Owen, and Zach Owen.
