Bette Allee (Jones) Karnes

Bette Allee Karnes, a beloved member of her community and a dedicated professional, passed away on March 14, 2025, at the age of 99, in Bellville, Texas. Born on February 28, 1926, in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Eddy G. Jones and Dorothy Labreq Jones. Bette lived a life enriched by her caring personality and commitment to her family and service.

Throughout her career, Bette served as Branch Manager in the Auditing Division of the Internal Revenue Service, where her skills and attention to detail made a significant impact. She pursued education through some college, which further supported her professional endeavors. Her friendly and loving nature extended beyond her work, finding expression in her many community involvements. Bette was an active member of the Bellville Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and Cancer Angels, and volunteered her time at hospitals in Kansas City.

In 2007, Bette married Walter Karnes in Bellville, Texas. Their union brought joy and companionship to both of their lives. Bette is survived by her husband, Walter Karnes, as well as her children: John, David, and Carole Allee along with her daughter-in-law, Patricia Allee. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Jennifer, Dawn, Jeremy, Rhiannon, David, and Christian, a brother Richard Jones, and several nieces and nephews.

Bette was predeceased by her father, Edward Jones, her mother, Dorothy Labreq Jones. She also mourned the passing of her first husband, Elmer Allee, her sister, Barbara Belser, and her brother-in-law, Charles and her sister in law Marleen Jones.

Bette Allee Karnes will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for family and community, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
