Betty Winkler

November 29, 1941 — July 28, 2013

BETTY FISHER WINKLER, 71, of Bellville, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, in a Houston hospital. Betty was born November 29, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy Egan Fisher. She grew up and attended school in St. Louis and graduated from Dupo High. Betty found a career as an accountant for the construction industry. On August 5, 1994, Betty married the love of her life, John Winkler, Jr., in Houston. After John''s retirement, they moved from Bellville to Brenham, and eventually made their home in Katy. They got to spend eighteen wonderful years together, which Betty expressed through a note: "When the time comes for me to move on to the next arena, I will have to thank God for giving me a wonderful life. I had healthy children, traveled around the world a time or two. I also was given a wonderful man to be my husband. John took very good care of me, he was just always looking for the downside of everything instead of the upside. But, that was the way he was raised and I learned, I hope, to start him into the upside. I have been to and seen many arenas. I had a very good childhood; I have children that I know love me. And my marriage to John has been wonderful, even going through the hard times of getting to know one another. I know that the good Lord has sat on my shoulders most of my adult life and cannot thank Him enough for my life." Betty was known for her Betty Boop collection, putting puzzles together, remaining active, and her love for traveling the United States and Canada in her travel trailer, especially through the mountains. She is survived by her DAUGHTERS: Teri Woodling and her husband, Rick, of Claremore, Oklahoma, Jean Corum and her boyfriend, Rowdy, of Canyon Lake, Texas; SON: Gari Stanger and his wife, Theresa, of Bellville, Texas; STEP-CHILDREN: John Winkler, III, Kevin Winkler, Thomas Winkler, Regina, and their families; GRANDCHILDREN: Jennifer Spencer, Justin Woodling, Cody Corum, Casey Corum, Loren Murski, Amber Stanger; eleven GREATGRANDCHILDREN, and another on the way.
