Beverly Jan Miller

BEVERLY JAN (BARKEY) MILLER, 89, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, in Katy, Texas.

She was born February 29, 1932, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Allrue and Helen (Stoddard) Barkey. Beverly grew up and attended schools in the Peoria, Illinois area. She graduated from Peoria High School She attended Bradley University graduating with her teaching degree. She taught 4th grade for many years at McKinley Grade school in Ottawa, Illinois. Beverly was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority at BU. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church, Ottawa Music Club, and Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra where she played the string bass. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. In her free time, Beverly enjoyed reading, traveling, history and bridge club. An avid musician, she played the piano and string bass and was a member of a quartet, playing at numerous venues and weddings.

She is survived by her daughter: Jan Williams and husband, Johnny, of Sealy, Texas; son: Evan Miller and wife, Donna, of West Memphis, Arkansas; She had 2 grandchildren: Emily Jones, and Andrew Krutsinger and wife, Brittany; She had 10 grandchildren.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Allrue and Helen (Stoddard) Barkey, and husband, Lawrence Miller.
