BRENDA KAY (LYTH) MAREK, 75, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, in Brenham, Texas. Just two weeks and one day after the death of her beloved husband, Douglas. She was born June 14, 1947, in Bellville, Texas, the daughter of William B. and Ernestine (Porter) Lyth, Sr. Kay grew up and attended schools in the Bellville area, graduating from Bellville High School in 1965. Kay was a member of the Big Red Brahma Band and was also a twirler. She later attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham and Victoria Junior College. She was employed as a secretary for many years with the Austin County Tax Assessors Collector, before going to work for Red Adair at Red Acres Ranch as a secretary. Kay was united in marriage to Henry Douglas Marek, on June 4, 1966, in Bellville. They were members of the Bellville Methodist Church, where she attended Bible Study, and was a Sunday School Teacher. Kay was a Board Member of the Bellville Public Library. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross-stitching and reading. She is survived by her son Stephen Marek of Nelsonville, daughter Melissa, husband Ryan, and grand-children Kenzie, Haley, and Noah Mueller of Burton, brother-in-law Jay Lee Marek and wife Beverly of Mason, stepmother-in-law Flora Marek of Industry, sister-in-law Donna Lyth of Bellville, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Douglas Marek; parents: William, Sr. and Ernestine “Tina” Lyth; brother: William “Bill” Lyth, Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Henry and Vida Marek; sister-in-law: Shirley Plemons; and brother-in-law: Bobby Plemons. Pallbearers are John Lyth, Ryan Mueller, Aaron Maresh, Mark Emshoff, Rod Vincent, and Roy Golan.
