Bernetta E. Grebe

September 21, 1924 — April 22, 2017

Bernetta E. (Schweke) Grebe, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2017. She was born on September 21, 1924, in the Post Oak Point Community of Austin County, to parents Arthur and Henrietta (Krause) Schweke.  She was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Bernetta was the youngest of four children and lived on a dairy farm helping with the care of the dairy cows, while also helping with household chores. She attended Henkhouse School in New Ulm until the 10th grade and then attended Columbus High School. Bernetta and LeRoy were married on July 14, 1946, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsburg and enjoyed 67 wonderful years of married life. They were blessed with three children, Peggy, LeRoy, Jr. and Sally.  Bernetta was a full time wife, mother and homemaker.  She also served as a 4-H adult leader, Cub Scout leader, member of the Bellville PTO, member of the Bellville Band Parents Organization, Bleiblerville SPJST, the VFW Auxiliary, the Bellville American Legion Auxiliary, Thrivent for Lutherans, Woodmen of the World, and she served as an Eastern Star of the Masonic Lodge in Bellville. Preceding her in death is husband, LeRoy H. Grebe, parents, Arthur and Henrietta Schweke, sister, Madeline Schmid and brothers, Clarence and Desmond Schweke and sister-in-law, Erma Jean Schweke. Bernetta is survived by her daughters: Peggy (Kenneth) Ueckert of Bellville and Sally (Ray) Stolz of Washington; son: LeRoy “Butch” (Julie) Grebe, Jr. of Bellville. She also leaves behind grandchildren: Allen Ueckert of Houston, Melissa Durham of Bellville, Stephanie (Tex) Maxson of Navasota, Jeff (Amanda) Stolz of Washington, Will Stolz of Washington, William Guy Grebe of Bellville, Reese (Clarissa) Grebe of College Station and Jon (Jaime) Schroeder of Industry.  Also surviving her are her beloved great grandchildren Raelynn and Kylie Maxson of Navasota, Abby, Kameron and Brooklynn Stolz of Washington, Kayla and Cordell Durham of Bellville, Hailey and Will Grebe of Bellville and Jaden and Justin Schroeder of Industry, as well as nieces and nephews.
