Carolyn "Pat" Tingle

July 9, 1927 — October 21, 2017

Born into a ranching family in the town of Pattison, in rural Texas west of Houston, Pat Tingle was the daughter of Rollins Pattison and Meta Wendt Pattison.  She attended Pattison High School where she graduated with six other students in 1944.  During high school, she was a church musician in the Pattison Methodist Church.  She attended college at the University of Texas and at the University of Houston, where she met William Tingle.  They both played sports and enjoyed football.  They married in 1950.  She and Bill taught school in Galena Park for one year and in Spring Branch ISD for over 30.  She continued in the family tradition of raising cattle, specializing in registered Brahmans.  She managed a small pecan orchard, sewed her own wardrobe, kept an immaculate house, and prepared delectable jellies, desserts and all manner of delicious food. Even so, she was careful to keep a trim figure. She and Bill raised two children and encouraged their two beloved granddaughters to visit on weekends and holidays as much as possible. She has two darling great-granddaughters who dwell in Iowa. She was a fixture in the Pattison United Methodist Church. She was active over the years in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Waller County Historical Society Museum, the volunteer fire department, and other various community groups and efforts. She is survived by son, William Keith Tingle, daughter, Kay Tingle Shearer, brother, Stewart Pattison, nieces, Deborah Pattison and Karen Pattison and Sally Stewart of Chandler AZ, grand-daughters Leah Shearer and Lauren Rockwell of Cedar Rapids of Iowa, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 3 PM at the Pattison United Methodist Church in the town of Pattison, TX, on Hwy 359, 3 miles north of Interstate 10, near Brookshire, TX. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pattison Volunteer Fire Department or to the Pattison United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.  No flowers, please.
