CURTIS EDMUND RINN, 85, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2021.
He was born on February 2, 1936, to Robert F. and Laura Glaeser Rinn. He worked for almost 50 years at American Rice Growers in Katy, Texas, grading and selling rice for the farmers in the Katy area. Curtis started at American Rice Growers when he was just 20 years old, and it was the only public job that he ever had.
During his time in Katy, he met his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Tuthill Rinn. They were married on April 25, 1959, at the Industry United Methodist Church, where he was a lifetime member. They were the first couple to be married in the (new) church. He and Dorothy resided in Katy until 1979, when they moved to Industry, Texas, to farm while still commuting back and forth to work until his retirement on December 31, 2005. Curtis was then able to fully enjoy his passion of farming and raising cattle. He loved getting up each morning and seeing his cattle out of the back window.
Together they had two children: Curtis Darrel Rinn and his wife, Pam, of Flower Mound, Texas, and Karen Marie Engeling and her husband, Craig, of Industry, Texas.
Curtis is also survived by his wife: Dorothy Rinn of Industry; his children: Curtis Darrel and Karen Marie; brother: Robert Lee Rinn and his wife, Virginia, sister: Waldine Rudloff, brothers-in-law: Vernon Tuthill and his wife, Bette, Robert “Bob” Tuthill and his wife, Carol, and James “Jim” Tuthill and his wife, Sheila; grandchildren to whom he loved dearly: Megan Burns and her husband, Chris, Travis Gonzales and his wife, Kimberly, Bonnie Sperry and her husband, Brian, Kellie Schatte and her husband, Garrett, Chad Engeling and special friend, Heather Ruemke, and Kari Engeling and special friend, Marcos Martinez; great grandchildren: Heather, Hailey, Hunter, Hayden, Harmony, Colton, Kallaway, Ian, and Mason; and numerous other family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, baby sister, Dorothy, father-in-law, Harry Tuthill, mother-in-law, Mildred Tuthill, brothers-in-law, Oliver Rudloff, David Tuthill, Alan Tuthill, and Larry Tuthill, sister-in-law, Virginia Fennen.
