Dale Wayne Sommerlatte

DALE WAYNE SOMMERLATTE, 62, of Bellville, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Dale was born September 15, 1952, to Leroy and Mathilda (Drevojanek) Sommerlatte at the Sarah B. Milroy Memorial Hospital in Brenham, Texas. He was baptized in the Nelsonville Brethren Church on April 3, 1953, and confirmed August 20, 1967. He attended Welcome Elementary School for eight years where he met many of his lifelong friends. From there he attended Bellville High School and graduated in 1971. It was here that he met his best friend and wife, Patricia Lynn Pfeffer Sommerlatte. After finishing high school, Dale further pursued his education at Blinn College and Texas A&M University graduating from the College of Education with a degree in Curriculum and Instruction in December 1974. Dale married his high school sweetheart, Patricia "Patti" Pfeffer, on December 21, 1974. Through marriage, Dale also gained two wonderful in-laws, Wilford and Gloria Pfeffer. Dale always said Wilford was his best friend and he could always go to Gloria when he needed to talk. Together, Dale and Patti raised two daughters, Kelley Lowes and Lindsey Pasqua. Dale and Patricia were married for forty years. They also have two beautiful grandchildren, Ella Pasqua and Heath Lowes. Dale proudly worked for Blue Bell Creameries for forty-three years as the Fleet/Warehousing Operations Manager. While his family was young, they created 4 Bar S Shorthorns. Together, his family gathered shorthorn cattle from around the country. During his spare time, Dale was active in the community serving as a director for the Texas Shorthorn Association, St. John Lutheran Church Building Committee Member, Austin County 4-H Beef Committee Member, President of the Mesquite Lion''s Club, and member of St. John Lutheran Church. Dale had many hobbies including traveling with his family, in particular to Walt Disney World, playing with his grandchildren, fishing, working on his 1966 GMC truck, working with his shorthorn cattle, cruising to different islands, watching Aggie and Texans football games, BBQing, and laying on the beach. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Sommerlatte. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Sommerlatte, daughters, Kelley Lowes and husband, Donnie, and Lindsey Pasqua; grandchildren, Ella Pasqua and Heath Lowes; mother, Mathilda Sommerlatte; brothers, Michael Sommerlatte and wife, Sandra, and Byron Sommerlatte and wife, LaVell; father-in-law, Wilford Pfeffer and mother-in-law, Gloria Pfeffer; sister-in-law, Belinda Jackson and husband, Stanley; nieces and nephews, Scot and Jessie Sommerlatte, Wyatt and Tracy Matthias, Kyle Sommerlatte, Curtis Sommerlatte, Carey and Brittney Johnson, and Lance and Briana Larson.
