Dale Hartley May, 63, passed away December 11, 2020, in Bellville, Texas.

Dale was born July 14, 1957, to Willis and Marie (Davis) May in Warren, Ohio.  They immediately moved to Mississippi, later they moved to Texas, then to Tampa, Florida, then back to Mississippi. He spent his teen years in Panhandle, Texas, where his parents remained until their deaths.

He graduated from Panhandle High School, received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Texas Tech, and later went on to earn an associate’s degree at Midland College in Applied Science, Computer Information Systems. While at Tech he met his wife Pat, whom he then married right after graduation on January 5, 1980.

He and Pat moved to Midland, where he started his career with Schlumberger. Dale worked for them for 34 years as a petrophysicist, until his retirement in 2014. He was well respected, wrote many scholarly papers, and was a co-creator of a patented process.

Many years prior to retirement, they purchased land in Bellville, Texas, for their retirement home. They have lived in Bellville for 8 years and made many friends, especially among the Lions Club and the First United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and was a voracious reader. He also never lived in a house he couldn’t improve upon

Dale was predeceased by his parents.

Dale is survived by his spouse: Pat (Bomar) May; son: Topher May of Houston, and Dave (Erica) May of Round Rock; grandsons: Chandler Windham and Charlie May of Round Rock; brother: Don (Angie) May of Walsenburg, CO, Debbie Sitz of Ballinger, TX, and Diana (Ken) Neely of Murfreesboro, TN; and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
