Darla Sue Peck

October 4, 1937 — December 22, 2021

Sue Peck, artist, died Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Clear Lake Hospital in Webster, TX, at the age of 84 due to an unexpected heart incident.  Her children were blessed to be with her when she passed.

Sue was born Darla Sue Erickson at home on October 4, 1937, to Herman and Fannie (Bolyard) Erickson in Groves, Texas.  She graduated from Port Neches Groves High School and went on to complete a two-year secretarial course at Lamar College in Beaumont, Texas.

She married her first husband, Joseph Samuel Ebanks, Jr. on September 21, 1957.  They had three children and were married 24 years.  Sue stayed home to raise her family and was a wonderful mother to each of them.  As they grew older, she returned to the workforce in an administrative role in the insurance industry.  She was active in the church choir and sang beautifully.  Sue loved music and could play the piano and guitar. She also uncovered her talents as an artist - first painting with oils and watercolors, and eventually completing some sculptures.

When she married her second husband, Stephen Bruno Peck, on August 31, 1985, her life changed and she found herself moving from Texas to McLean, Virginia in the Washington, D.C. area, where she and Steve had the times of their lives.  They enjoyed music and supper clubs and wining and dining with their friends.  Upon Steve’s retirement, they relocated to Destin, Florida, to enjoy beach life in a beautiful home.

In Destin, Sue was the co-owner of an art gallery and a member of a local art society.  Her artistic skills continued to grow and she won many awards for her paintings, both locally and from a prestigious gallery in New York City.

Sue stayed in Destin for a number of years after Steve’s passing in 1999, as they had a network of friends and ties to the area.  She eventually returned home to Texas to be near her children where she lived till her passing and was most recently a resident of Friendswood, Texas.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Fannie (Bolyard) Erickson, her younger brother, Herman “Buddy” Erickson, and her husband, Stephen Bruno Peck.

Sue is survived by her three children, Lynda (Jerry) Harrison, Susan (Charles) deBoisblanc, Darren (Jana) Ebanks and two stepsons, Michael and Thomas Peck.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) deBoisblanc, Kristin (Leo) deBoisblanc-Silva, Nicole Harrison, Jillian Ebanks and great-grandchildren, Charlie White, Summer Silva, and Ellie deBoisblanc.

Following a private family burial, Sue Peck will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas, with her husband, Steve Peck.
