DARLENE (TERRY) BROWN FREEBURN, 79, of Brenham, Texas, passed away at her home on Monday, September 20, 2021.
She was born September 6, 1942 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Darl Vincent and Lorraine (Enslen) Brown. Darlene grew up and attended schools in Fremont, IN, graduating from Fremont High School. After graduation, she enrolled at Ravenscroft Beauty School. Darlene was united in marriage to Ronald Freeburn, on February 17, 1962 in Fremont, IN. They moved to Norfolk, VA in 1962, and later to Ray, MI, Collierville, TN, Sealy, TX, Bellville, TX, and Industry, TX.
Darlene was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing the piano, oil painting and woodworking.
Darlene (Terry) Freeburn is survived by her husband, Ronald Freeburn of Brenham TX. Son: Rodney (Dawn) Freeburn of Catahoula LA. Daughters: Tonia Richards (Steve McColm) of Brenham TX, Sonia (Russell) Howard of Bellville TX, Denise (Wade) Dodge of The Villages FL. Brother, Robert (Norma) Brown of Fremont, IN. Grandchildren: Ryan Dodge, Brandon (Ruth), Taylor and Leyton Howard, Cody (Fallion), Kyle and Luke Richards, Zachary and Megan Freeburn and Kaden McColm. Great grandchildren Averie Richards and Ella Howard along with many nephews, nieces, and numerous friends and extended family, who she dearly loved.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Darl (Grace) Brown of Columbus OH and Lorraine (Rex Wayne) Merriman of Fremont IN, a daughter, Sandy Marie Freeburn and granddaughter, Emily Elise Richards.
As the Matriarch of the family, she was incredibly devoted to her husband and family, always doing whatever was needed to provide support and unconditional love. Terry taught her children and grandchildren the love and value of family, the importance of integrity, the love of laughter, the significance lending a helping hand, and to always extend warm welcomes to anyone who entered her door. She was known for her vivacious, magnetic, tell-it-like-it-is personality, and her life-of-the-party presence. To know her was to love her and she was dearly loved by her family and friends.
A private Celebration of Life will be held.
