Dorothy Ann Bauer Lorehn, aged 94, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2025 in Bay St Louis, MS. She leaves behind 4 of her 6 children – Anne Young (Bob), Jhonna Orebaugh (Doug), David Lorehn (Cathi), and Linda Cottrell. She is reunited in Heaven with her husband Edmond Louis Lorehn, Jr. and her daughters Karel Lorehn Wieghard and Elizabeth (Lisa) Lorehn Parsons. Also preceding her in death were her grandchildren, James Michael Lipscomb, Dalton Allen Davis and Mikela Lipscomb. She is survived by her loving brother William E. Bauer (Sharon) and many extended family members. Her children blessed her with 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson who all love their Nanny dearly.
She was a fantastic hostess, gourmet cook, avid gardener, voracious reader and she played a mean hand of bridge. Her early life was spent traveling the United States with her father William C. Bauer, mother Letha Lucille McWilliams, and little brother, changing schools often. Because of this, she learned to make friends quickly and adapt to her surroundings. She was genuinely interested in people and she charmed everyone she met. She loved entertaining and being the life of the party. She wrote several cookbooks and a gardening book (which are bestsellers in our family!) as well as funny commentary on current events. She was beautiful, smart, witty and a great storyteller. She will be missed by her friends and family but we are comforted knowing she is in God’s loving embrace. Throw a party for us, Mother!
Her ashes will be interred at the family plot in Pattison, Texas, Friday May 2, 2025 at 10 a.m., Pattison Cemetery adjacent to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
