Dottie Mikeska Helwig

DOTTIE M. HELWIG, 89, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021, in Bellville.

She was born May 4, 1931, in Nelsonville, Texas, the daughter of Jerry and Esther (Kamas) Mikeska.  Dottie grew up and attended schools in the Bellville area, graduating from Bellville High School.  She was united in marriage to James “Jiggs” Helwig, on June 26, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville.  Dottie and Jiggs owned and operated Helwig Feed Store in Bellville for many years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her garden and plants, mowing her yard, and gambling; especially traveling to Vegas. She was a quite simple but tough lady and will be missed by many.

Dottie is survived by her daughter: Darly Grawunder and her husband, Jimmy, of Bernardo; son: Bardy Helwig and his wife, Jan, of Rocksprings; grandchildren: Dayne Liescheski of Bellville, Julie Warnasch and her husband, Justin, of Cypress, and Jill Helwig of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren: Dylan Talk and his wife, Abi, Grant Liescheski, Lola Warnasch, Sadie Warnasch, and Hudson Warnasch; great-great-granddaughter: Scarlett Talk of Bellville; brother: Derry Mikeska and his wife, Dorothy, of Bellville; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jiggs” Helwig, parents, Jerry and Esther Mikeska, two brothers, Dalby and Denny Mikeska, and granddaughter, Brittney Mertins.
