Duke Donovan Taubert

September 19, 1948 — January 22, 2021

Duke Donovan Taubert, 72, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, January 22, 2021. Duke was born on September 19, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Julius and Helen (Gould) Taubert. He grew up and attended schools in Milwaukee. After graduating high school, he attended college and was later employed in sales. In 1980, Duke moved to Houston, Texas, where he built a successful life and career. In 2000, he met Nell Womack and they were married in Port Isabell, Texas, on June 17, 2000. They made their home in Pasadena until 2015, then moving to Friendswood. Duke was a fun and energetic man. He enjoyed telling stories and was known to be the life-of-the-party. He enjoyed playing tennis, participating in BBQ cook-offs, and socializing with friends and colleagues. What he enjoyed most, though, was spending time with his wife, Nell. Together, they took many trips to South Padre Island, went on cruises, and enjoyed spending time at the casinos in Lake Charles. He is survived by his wife of 21 years: Nell Taubert of Friendswood; daughter: Tanya Newman and her husband, Carlos, of Georgetown; stepson: Billy Coyle and his wife, Suzi, of Friendswood; stepdaughter: Kris Martin and her husband, Phillip, of Crosby; stepson: Scott Coyle and his wife, Nancy, of Friendswood; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and dear friends. Duke was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Helen Taubert.
