Elaine Marie (Cariola) Lewis

ELAINE MARIE (CARIOLA) LEWIS, 72, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019, in Bellville.

She was born January 13, 1947, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Michael and Angela (Sensi) Cariola. Elaine grew up the only daughter in a house full of 4 brothers, and attended schools in the Trenton, New Jersey area. After she graduated high school, she worked for the telephone company as a switchboard operator until she met and married Ed Lewis on June 4, 1966, in Trenton, New Jersey. She and Ed moved around the world during their marriage and eventually settled in Bellville, where they owned and operated Sanctuary Arms Gun Shop and Shooting Range. Elaine showed her boundless love to family and friends with delicious, home-cooked meals. She was also an accomplished painter, amazing gardener and good friend to many.

She is survived by her son: Michael Lewis and his wife, Kimberly; daughter: Karen Lewis DeLeon and her husband, Pete, all of Bellville; grandchildren: Hannah Lewis and Michaela Lewis; Jessica Schroeder and fiancé Kolby O’Bryant, Ashley Winkelman and her husband, Jerry, Camille Theriot and her husband Calvin, Travis Brunet and his wife Tori, and Ashley DeLeon; great grandchildren: Easton Southerland plus two on the way.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ed “Shorty” Lewis, parents, Michael and Angela Cariola, brothers, Jimmy and Michael Cariola, Ralph Reali and Reynold Reali, plus many dear friends and family who were all there to welcome her to the other side.
