Elida Gonzales

Elida G. (Garcia) Gonzales, 88, of Brookshire, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, in Katy, Texas.

Elida was born May 15, 1930, in Fulshear, Texas, to parents Francisco Garcia and Trinidad Fonseca. She grew up and attended school in Fulshear.   Elida made her home in Abilene, Texas for 5 years. She was united in marriage with Trinidad Gonzales on December 14, 1963, in Rosenberg, Texas. They made their home in Brookshire for many years and were members of the Jehovah’s Witness Sealy Congregation. Trinidad preceded Elida in death on November 9, 1994, after 31 years of marriage.

A homemaker, Elida was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She treasured the time she was able to spend with her family and enjoyed jewelry making.

She is survived by her children: Sarah Martinez and husband, David Rogers, of Houston, Texas, Carlos Martinez of Navasota, Texas, Janie Yater and husband, Ron, of Grand Junction, Colorado, Raul Martinez and wife, Phyllis, of Brookshire, Texas, Diana Nowell and husband, David, of Carrington, Georgia, Beatrice Froman and husband, Phillip, of Tomball, Texas, Adelita Stewart of Katy, Texas, Anita Rao and husband, Mohan, of Ecuador; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister: Sarah Gonzales of Brookshire, Texas; brother: Manuel “Mica” Fuentes of Houston, Texas; 3 nieces, several great nieces and great nephews; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Trinidad Gonzales.
