Elsie McWilliams Maler, 88, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at her home in Brookshire. Born in Batesville, Arkansas on November 25, 1929, to Nathan and Effie (Sisk) Tosh, she moved to Houston at a young age. After completing high school in Houston, Elsie married George F. McWilliams, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1970. Together they had six children. She lovingly referred to her children as the upstairs kids (Danny, George and Patrick) and the downstairs kids (Tana, Mark and Matthew). The older kids and younger kids were separated by a 7 year age gap. Elsie devoted her life to her family. Her fondest memories were as a mother and homemaker. In 1982, Elsie married Ted Maler and moved to Brookshire where she settled into the wonderful community that would be her home for the next 35 years. She and Ted enjoyed keeping up with friends, family and farming. Ted preceded her in death in 1997. Elsie was an active member of First Baptist Church of Brookshire and a member of the Eastern Star since 1957. She enjoyed keeping up with local politics and attending council meetings. She is preceded in death by her two husbands; George McWilliams and Ted Maler, and her sons; Patrick McWilliams and Mark McWilliams. Elsie is survived by her daughter: Tana Coke of Brookshire; sons: Daniel McWilliams and his wife Dianne of Cypress, George McWilliams of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Matt McWilliams of Houston. She is also survived by her loving sister: Veda Wall of The Woodlands. Elsie adored her three granddaughters and four great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends. She lived a good life, full of love and family.
