Elva Zamora Torres

ELVA M. ZAMORA TORRES, 66, of Brookshire, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in a Houston hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Elva was born August 9, 1946, in Menard, Texas. The daughter of Benigno Aguirre and Adelfa Mireles Zamora, she grew up and attended school in Menard. She lived in various places in Texas and Louisiana before moving to Brookshire in 1986. Elva worked as manager of the Days Inn in Brookshire and had then been employed as a medical assistant for Dr. Longhi for over twelve years. After her retirement, she went to work for the United Way in Brookshire where she assisted senior citizens. Elva married Jose Manuel Cobio Torres on March 25, 2007. They made their home in Brookshire. Elva was a Catholic by faith. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and board puzzles, crocheting and gardening. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she especially treasured the time she was able to spend with her family. Elva is survived by her HUSBAND: Jose Manuel Cobio Torres of Brookshire; CHILDREN: Joann Dalgaard and her husband, Ivan, of Midland, Ruben Jurado and his wife, Maria, of Brookshire, René Jurado, Sr. and his wife, Sheila, of Hempstead, Benito Jurado and his wife, Esa, of Brookshire, Rosie Baker and her husband, Trey, also of Brookshire, and Christina Martinez of Katy; NUMEROUS GRANDCHILDREN; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; BROTHERS AND SISTERS: Ben Zamora and his wife, Myrtle, of Menard, Mary Osornio and her husband, Pablo, also of Menard, Esther Pena, Margaret Kosky, Armondo Hernandez and his wife, Alice, Marina Dominguez and her husband, Oton, and Linda Hernandez, all of Fort Worth; and many other dear friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Natalie Alvarez, brother, Toka Gonzalez, and infant siblings.
