Erwin "ET" Thiel

ERWIN HERBERT “ET” THIEL, 71, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, after fighting cancer for several years. He was born September 10, 1945, in Phillipsburg, Texas, the son of Eric and Erna (Schwettmann) Thiel.  ET grew up and attended schools in the Phillipsburg area, graduating from Brenham High School.  He was united in marriage to Dorothy Kaliszewski, on July 9, 1967.  ET worked at Eagle Rock Energy (Texas Southeastern Gas Company) until his retirement after 40 plus years. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville and the Bellville Volunteer Fire Department for many years.  He enjoyed barbeque fundraisers, helping with the Austin County Fair, gardening, and attending cattle shows with his daughter and the past two years, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Allie Grace.  ET was survived by his wife: Dorothy Thiel of Bellville; daughter: Stacy Eckert and her husband, Andrew, of Bellville; granddaughter Allie, and sister: Jannet Rosenbaum and her husband, Earl, of Burton; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Thiel, parents, Eric and Erna Thiel, and sister, Helen Eckermann, and grandson Wesson, and mother - in - law and father - in - law, John and Anita Kalisewski. Pallbearers are: Ronnie Robertson, Don Luedke, Tommy Roehling, Doyle Krause, Carson Krause and Glenn Rosenbaum. Honorary Pallbearers are: Garrett Krause, Josh Roehling, Mike Wise, Fuzz Wienecke and the members of the Bellville Fire Department.
