My chains are gone, I've been set free My God, my Savior ransomed me And like a flood, His mercy reigns Unending love, Amazing Grace (Chris Tomlin) Eugene has moved on to spend his eternal life in peace and safety in the arms of the Lord after a long battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. He leaves behind his wife, Louise (Jurek) of Sealy; his children, Mary (David) Houlihan of Simonton, Michael (Janie Urban) of Sealy, and Cory Teague of Sealy; and his grandchildren Ashlyne, Alexis, and Kiele Houlihan, Jace Smidovec, Kaleigh and Xavier Teague; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who were always near and dear to his heart. He has been preceded in death by his son - Eugene Jr, niece - Charlene Teague, parents - Frank and Christine Smidovec; his brothers - Frank, Arthur, Walter, Willie, and Raymond Smidovec; and sisters - Leona Teague, Christine Svinky, Winnie Jurek, and Joann Novosad. A very special heartfelt thank you goes out to the family that he leaves behind at Country Care Plex in Giddings and to a very special hospice nurse and angel, Gloria James, who brought joy and comfort at every visit.
