EUGENE FILLIP, 100, of Angleton, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, in Brenham, Texas.
He was born December 15, 1922, in Marlin, Texas, the son of Joe and Angeline (Bordovsky) Fillip. Eugene grew up in Marlin, graduating from Marlin High School. Eugene enlisted in the United States Army in July 1945 and served his country until he was honorably discharged in December 1946. He was later employed as a Foreman at the Dow Chemical Plant for many years.
He was united in marriage to Marjory Bess Smyth on December 7, 1941, in Mart, Texas. They made their home in Angleton, Texas, where they lived until Marjory’s passing in October 2000. Eugene continued to reside in Angleton and was very active outdoors, mowing his lawn, and other activities until his health started to fail in 2022. He enjoyed tending to his garden, woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter: Darla Maresh of Bellville; granddaughter: Lori Flisowski and her husband, Trevor, of Boerne; great-grandchildren: Bryson and Aarron Flisowski; both of Boerne; best friend: Robert Salazar; and other family members and dear friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife: Marjory Fillip; parents: Joe and Angeline Fillip; son-in-law: Glenn Maresh; sister: Velesta Ramby; and brothers: George Fillip, and Woodrow Fillip.
