Evelyn Langberg Brandt

March 16, 1925 — September 2, 2012

EVELYN LUCILLE LANGBERG BRANDT, 87, of Bellville, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, at her home in Bellville. Evelyn was born March 16, 1925, in Austin County, Texas, the daughter of Walter William and Frieda Erica Schumann Langberg. She attended first the Ives Creek School and then Bellville High School graduating as Valedictorian in 1942. Evelyn then enrolled at Southwest Business College in Houston and was employed by various businesses where she did clerical work and bookkeeping. On November 11, 1944, she married Delmus John Brandt at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. They lived in Houston for a short time before permanently making their home in Bellville. An active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Evelyn had served as a Sunday School teacher, Secretary for the WELCA, and was a member of the Mary Circle and the Sunshine Committee. Delmus preceded Evelyn in death in 2009. Evelyn was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was active in 4-H leadership during the years that her children participated in various club activities. She was also active in the Town and Country Garden Club. She was also an excellent seamstress. A fierce competitor at dominoes, she taught all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren to play. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, playing SkipBo and Uno, but most of all Evelyn treasured the time she was able to spend with her family. She leaves behind her CHILDREN: Lyndell Aschenbeck and husband, Harvey, Barbara Leonard and husband, Dennis, and John Douglas Brandt, all of Bellville, and Kay Sander and husband, Erwin, of Brenham; GRANDCHILDREN: Ross Aschenbeck and wife, Richelle, Neil Aschenbeck and wife, Rebecca, Anna Nadasdy and husband, John, Amy Aschenbeck, Kate Westbrook, Brandt Westbrook, Brett Sander and wife, Krista, Emily Sander and Blake Sander; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Grant, Shelby, Alexa, Brock, Rex and Abby Aschenbeck; NEPHEWS: William Wilcox and wife, Donna, and Charles Wilcox; NIECE: Janice Van Dusen; and many other dear friends and other relatives. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Delmus, her sister, Florine Wilcox and her son-in-law, Alan Westbrook.
