Ferma Irene Byers

Ferma Irene (Reuter) Byers, 98, of Katy, Texas, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 19, 2022. Ferma was born January 15, 1924, in Millerton, Iowa, to Fermon Oscar and Hazel (Gillman) Reuter. She grew up in Cambria, Iowa, graduating from Cambria High School. On September 16, 1945, Ferma married the love of her life, Harold Byers. This union was blessed with two daughters, Cheryl “Cheri” and Vicky. Ferma and her family lived in Iowa, Arizona, and California before making their home in Texas. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church of Sealy. In her spare time, Ferma enjoyed volunteering at her church, sewing, crafting, and baking. She is survived by her daughters: Cheryl “Cheri” Vande Vorde and husband, Richard, of Georgetown and Vicky Harris of Houston; granddaughter: Traci Boyle and husband, Brian, of Decatur, Alabama; grandsons: Tim Vande Vorde and wife, Teresa, of Lockhart and Ryan Harris and wife, Rachel, of Magnolia; great-grandchildren: Travis, Trevor, and Thomas “TJ” Vande Vorde, Courtney Girndt and husband Alex, Cameron Gregory and wife Avery, Hudson and Harper Harris and Celeste, Ashlynn and Liam Blanshan, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Ferma was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Byers; parents: Fermon Oscar and Hazel Reuter; and sisters: Phyllis Corral and Floris “Flossie” Snyder.
