GARTH GRIFFITH, affectionately known as PaPa, 83, of Industry, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020, in College Station, Texas.
He was born October 25, 1937, in Shelby County, Texas, the son of Dalton and Nela (Brittain) Griffith. Garth grew up and attended schools in Shelby County, graduating from Joaquin High School in Joaquin, Texas. He was united in marriage to Imogene McCaffety, in Waller, Texas, on May 31, 1958. In 1976, they made their home in Industry, Texas. At this time, they entered a partnership in Lindemann Store with James Lindemann and Clyde Heinsohn with Garth being the manager. Cattle became an important part of the business. This was a passion for him. He dearly loved raising and taking care of them and being outdoors. For the past 7 years, he owned The West End Flag Store. Garth enjoyed friends and neighbors stopping by and loved his community.
Garth was a member of the Country Bible Church in Brenham, where he was a Deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Industry City Council and the Community Development Corporation.
He is survived by his wife: Imogene Griffith of Industry; daughters: Terry Pennison and her husband, Gus, of Bellville, and Tracy Echols and her husband, Mark, of Diana; grandchildren: Morgan Pennison and her fiancé, Matthew Thomas, of College Station, Cydney Pennison of College Station, Jessica Harman and her husband, Tyler, of Cat Spring, and Mary Echols of Longview; brother: Waylon Griffith of Center; and numerous other relatives and dear friends.
Garth was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Nela Griffith, four brothers, and two sisters.
