George Lewis Mathis, Jr.

George Lewis Mathis, Jr., 73, of Brookshire, Texas passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Katy, Texas.   George was born on February 2, 1944 the son of George, Sr. and Jonny (Camp) Mathis in Hempstead, Texas. Throughout his life George lived in Louisiana, Colorado, but he considered Waller County home. He married Betty on August 7, 1974.George worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Waller County and enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood work and leather craft. He was a member of the Free Masons as well.   George is survived by his wife: Betty Mathis of Sealy, Texas; son: Trey Mathis and grand-daughter: Elizabeth Mathis both of Austin, Texas; brother: Terry Mathis of San Antonio, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.   He is preceded in death by his parents.
