George Ronald King - January 9 th , 1937 – August 15 th , 2021

George passed away in the early hours of August 15th of heart failure at Memorial City Herman Hospital after being ill for several weeks.  A stand-out football player at Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Texas, George played intramural football and served as the president of his Theta Chi fraternity at the University of North Texas, graduating in 1959, with a degree in Business Administration.  It was there that he met his adored his future wife, Kay.  Soon after graduation, the two married, settling in Houston, Texas, where he enlisted in the Air National Guard.

In 1971, the couple welcomed their son, Collin, into the world and built a home in the Memorial area of Spring Branch.  George and Kay loved to dance, throwing many parties for their friends and colleagues.  George worked for Tidewater Compression, beginning in the early seventies until his retirement in 1996, when he took up golfing full time with his best friend, Darrell Smith. George was an avid football fan, holding Houston Oiler season tickets for 27 years.  Kay and George traveled the world together, exploring many countries and continents over the years.  There are very few places they had not explored together.  The two frequently traveled to Seattle to visit their granddaughter, Violet, who was born in 2003.  Being a grandfather was a thrill for George.

George is survived by his wife, Kay; son, Collin; daughter-in-law, Stephanie; granddaughter, Violet; in-laws, Linda, Buddy, Gary, Susan, Willie, Judy and Natalie; as well as nieces, Leigh and Lindsay.

Due to COVID and George’s wishes, the family is not planning a memorial service at this time.
Please celebrate George’s wonderful life any way you wish.
