Glen Roy Moyer passed away of a heart attack on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at his residence in Burton, Texas. Glen was born April 10, 1962 in Kingsville, Texas. He is survived by his greatest love, his daughter, Irish Katherine "Mookie " Moyer of College Station; his devoted partner and love, Leah Janes of Wesley; sisters Kathy Sue & husband Martin Cornelius of Bryan; Shirley & husband Wayne Beum of Industry; Barbara & Mike Keese of Medina; Gaylene Chambers Moyer of Riverside; Kim Moyer of Jewett; brother Michael Kyle "Mike" & wife Jamette Moyer of Bandera; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Glen Roy Moyer was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Doris Moyer of Katy, brothers: Donnie Moyer of Monaville and Gary Wayne Moyer of Katy. Glen was a devoted father to his precious "Mookie," an avid hunter, fisherman, and all-around outdoorsman. He was quite the woodworking craftsman and a great cook. His fried chicken was legendary! He was a fierce patriot, never passing up an opportunity to let all in earshot know he was a proud Marine. "Once a Marine, always a Marine!" He was happiest when he was with Mookie. Whether he was cooking for her (ALL of her favorite things at once!), woodworking, kayaking, hunting or just hanging out. He beamed with pride at her every accomplishment, and there were many. He jumped at every chance to take Mookie and Leah kayaking or hunting. Ensuring their safety and, of course, having fun were his priorities! There are so many stories we could share about our brother, Glen. He loved his country and considered being a United States Marine an honor. Once, he happened to drive by a house that was flying a tattered American flag. This was absolutely unacceptable to him, so he promptly bought a new flag and hung it on the flagpole, replacing the old one. Each year, he looked forward to our annual Moyer Mother's Day camping trip at Lake Somerville. Time spent with family and friends was very important to him. You could always count on Uncle Glen for a fun time with some good-hearted, sarcastic ribbing in his one-of-a-kind way. Glen Roy Moyer was a big, strong guy with a big heart. He was hardworking, loved fearlessly, cherished time with his loved ones, and was always up to join the fun and storytelling. We will miss our brother, father, companion, and friend always. As stated by his brother, Mike, “It hurts our hearts, but calms our souls.” Rest in peace, we love you, Glen Roy. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 NIV Celebration of Life Services will be held at 4:00 pm at the Overlook Park Pavilion, Lake Somerville on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
