GLEN DWAIN SPAUGH, 88, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in Bellville.
He was born February 15, 1934, in Alba, Texas, the son of Byrum Newton and Claire Jewel Fuller Spaugh. Dwain grew up and attended schools in the Rains County area, graduating from Alba High School. He joined the United States Army following graduation and service his country until he was Honorably Discharged in 1962.
Dwain was united in marriage to Loretta Lee, on September 6, 1957, in Galena Park, Texas. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, collecting baseball cards, going to church, and the Texas Longhorns. He was an avid gardener, winning “yard of the month” numerous times. Dwain coached Little League baseball for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bellville, being involved in many activities and a teacher at different age levels. Dwain and his wife were also blessed with the opportunity to help start and support three area churches over a five-year period.
He is survived by his wife: Loretta Spaugh of Bellville; son: David Spaugh of LaPorte; granddaughter: Kelli Stewart and her husband, Joey, of LaPorte; grandson: Aaron Ryan Spaugh of League City; great-grandchild: Pressley Hope Stewart of LaPorte; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Dwain was preceded in death by his infant son: Darrell Glen Spaugh; parents: Byrum and Jewel Spaugh; sisters: Georgia Timpani, and Delores Hyde; and brother: Kenneth Spaugh.
