Guy (Steve) Mahler, 72, of Orchard, Texas, went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 2, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family, in Chappell Hill, Texas.
Steve was born October 3, 1952, in Rosenberg, Texas, the son of Leon and Patti Mahler. He grew up in Orchard graduating from Orchard High School in 1971, where he was editor of the yearbook, Mr. O.H.S., President of the Student Council, Beau of the Future Homemakers of America, Officer of the Future Farmers of America, member of the football, basketball, state golf team, participated in theater, and voted Best Dressed and Most Likely to Succeed by his peers. Upon graduation, Steve pursued his passion of photography, continuing his education at a local junior college. Before completing his first semester of college, his Dad, Leon Mahler, became ill and Steve moved back home to help with the family business. Mahler Water Well Service started with Steve’s Grandpa, Charles Frederick Mahler in 1914, moving to Steve’s Dad, Leon Mahler, in 1946, and Steve took the reins sometime in the early 1980’s. Steve took pride in his work and became known as an honest, dependable, well man and finally retired in 2019, after Mahler Water Well Service turned 105 years old.
Steve enjoyed playing competitive volleyball, where he was a part of “The Mean Machines” and “The Drillers.” Steve had a love of cars, owning a Porsche, and two Corvettes, where he loved attending local car shows with Angie. Steve also enjoyed photography, mowing grass, hunting, and cycling. Steve attended Simonton Community Church, where he served as Treasurer for many years, and served on the Board for the Orchard Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Angie of Chappell Hill, daughters; Nicole Brown and husband, Coy, of Trophy Club, and Heather Maynard and husband, Jeff, of Angleton. Grandchildren: Haley Dominguez, Lauren Maynard, Grace Maynard, Dylan Maust, Taylor Brown, Tate Brown, and Lauren Maust. Great Grandkids: Daymien Navarro and Emiliano Romero. Sister, Gaye Blunt, and husband Don, of Willis, and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents: Patti and Leon Mahler, brothers: Larry Mahler and Neal Mahler.
Memorial service will be held March 9, 2025 at Simonton Community Church 9703 FM 1489, Simonton, Texas 77476 at 2:00 P.M. A graveside service at Orchard Cemetery will follow refreshments and fellowship.
