HARVEY ROSS ASCHENBECK, 76, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Sunday morning, November 5, 2023, in Bellville.
He was born June 20, 1947, in Houston, Texas, the son of Albert and Clara Bravenec Aschenbeck. Harvey grew up and attended schools in Houston in his early years. His family later moved to Bellville, where he attended high school, graduating in 1965. He was involved in many different activities and sports, but football was the highlight of his life and his love of this sport showed. Harvey played guard during his high school years. After graduation, he was recruited to play football at Texas A&M University. He played for the Aggies on the freshman team and earned a freshman letter in 1965. Harvey’s next three years he was a starter on varsity as a defensive tackle. At the end of his playing career, he stayed on to coach until 1972, then he went on to coach and teach at Spring Woods High School.
In 1973, Harvey was employed by Exxon Company, and in 1979, he went to work for Exxon Development as a Drilling Supervisor. He traveled all over the world with his company to places like Norway, Malaysia, Nigeria, Scotland, Ivory Coast, and one of his favorite places was Argentina. Harvey retired in 2007 and then started working for Haney Consulting in the Gulf of Mexico.
Harvey was united in marriage to Lyndell Brandt on December 27, 1970, at St. John Lutheran Church. They made their home in Bellville, where they were lifelong active members of St. John He was a member of Men in Mission, Bible and Brew, the Letterman’s Association, past member on the church council, the school board, and Booster Club. Harvey was inducted into the Bellville Hall of Honor in 1998.
In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors fishing, and hunting, dancing, singing, drinking beer, doing family activities, and the love of his life was hanging out with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife: Lyndell Aschenbeck of Bellville; sons: Ross Aschenbeck and his wife, Richelle, of Fredericksburg, and Neil Aschenbeck and his wife, Rebecca, of Millheim; daughter: Amy Aschenbeck of Bellville; grandchildren: Grant Aschenbeck and his wife, Anna, of Lubbock, Shelby Phillips and her husband, Matthew, of Montana, Brock Aschenbeck of Brenham, Rex Aschenbeck of Millheim, Abby Aschenbeck of College Station, and Alexa Aschenbeck of Millheim; great-granddaughter: Wrenlee Aschenbeck of Lubbock; sisters: Joy Seidel and Gene Zapalac, and Kathy Wiesepape and her husband, Mike; both of Bellville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and many friends.
Harvey was preceded in death parents: Albert and Clara Aschenbeck.
Pallbearers are Grant Aschenbeck, Brock Aschenbeck, Rex Aschenbeck, Matthew Phillips, Garrett Seidel, Steed Lazrine, Scott Schumann, and Ted Lamp.
