James Monroe Altman

JAMES MONROE ALTMAN, 84, of Bellville, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Bellville. James was born the son of Jesse and Ida (Fisher) Altman on August 30, 1932 in Houston, Texas where he grew up and attended High School. After High School, James attended Sam Houston State University where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree. In 1951, James joined the United States Marine Corp and served in the Korean War where he obtained the rank of Sergeant.  After serving in the military, James worked as a public school teacher. He taught in Bellaire and Bellville. James was a member of the American Foreign Legion and was a Master Gardner. He is survived by his son: Larry Altman. He is preceded in death by his parents: Jesse and Ida Altman; brothers: Jack, Bo, C.E.; sisters: Geraldine and Wanda.
