James Albert Poulter of Brookshire, Texas, passed away on October 27, 2022, at the age of 95.
James was born February 3, 1927, Hot Springs, Arkansas, the son of Bert and HenryEtta Poulter. James grew up and attended school in Hot Springs, where he was the pitcher for his high school baseball team. He was a carpenter’s mate in the U.S. Navy in World War II and served in Okinawa during the fighting. James relocated to Houston, Texas, where he met and married Margaret Crossett. They were married on November 25, 1953, in Houston. James and Margaret made their home in Brookshire, Texas, in a home that James built in 1984. He and Margaret were members of the Pattison United Methodist Church. Margaret Poulter predeceased her husband on March 16, 2019.
During his working years, James was in construction and carpentry, and at one point had his own construction company.
James is survived by his daughters: Cynthia Murphey and her husband, Charles, of Houston and Phyllis Jones and her husband, Crist, of Austin; son: James Edward Poulter of Katy; granddaughter: Jessica Huffman and her husband, Jason; and great-grandson: Colton of Hurst. James is also survived by brothers: Glen Poulter of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Lloyd Poulter of South Carolina.
