Jan Johnson, 76, of Hempstead, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

Jan was born October 12, 1945, in Houston, Texas, to Wallace and Lucille (Known) Johnson. He grew up in Spring Branch, located in Houston, Tx, graduating from Spring Branch High School. Jan furthered his education at the University of Houston. During his working years, Jan pursued his career as a machinist at his family owned and operated machine shop in Spring Branch. Jan then progressed in his career as a salesman, selling machines and the tools related to machining. On June 26, 1965, Jan united in marriage with his lifelong companion, Sheila Hartman, in Houston, Texas, starting a beautiful life together of 57 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wallis, Texas. Jan was involved in his community, participating in various church activities, teaching I.E. Adult Bible Class and Sunday School, and he was the President of the Church Congregation. In his free time, Jan enjoyed spending time with family, reading, exploring, camping, and had a passion for fishing.

He is survived by his wife: Sheila Johnson of Hempstead; daughters: Amanda Sawyer and husband, Ed, of Hempstead and Andrea Wilson and husband, Steve, of Spring; son: Derek Johnson of Hempstead; granddaughters: Robin Stiltner and husband, Jason, and Fox Wilson; grandsons: Timothy Willis, Shawn Willis and wife, Brittany, Max Wilson, and Rex Wilson; three great-grandchildren; sisters: Jennifer Torline and husband, Bob, Jeannie Eberle and husband, Bill, and Jill Stephens and husband, Tom; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Jan was preceded in death by his parents: Wallace and Lucille Johnson; brother: Joel Johnson; and sister: Julie Brewer.
