Janie Elaine Hohlt Mewis

January 22, 1935 — November 4, 2024

Janie Elaine Mewis was born on Jan 22, 1935, to Ben and Sadie Hohlt in Nelsonville, TX.

She attended Bellville High School where she met Charles A. "Bubba" Mewis.  The couple wed on April 6, 1952.  They settled 5 miles outside Bellville where they ranched and raised two daughters.  Janie would live at that residence for 72 years.  During their 54-year marriage, the couple consistently supported all community fundraisers, including a major emphasis on the Austin County Fair.  Janie left this earth to be reunited with her beloved husband on Nov 4, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and her parents.

She is survived by her sisters Janet LaVergne, Joyce Koehn and Judith Lewis; her daughters Cheryl Sackett, husband Eddie and Patti Kim Jackson husband, David; grandson Matthew Jackson and wife Tanya; granddaughters Mandi Swartz, husband Aaron and Nikki Shreve, husband Jeremy; great-grandson, Rope Jackson; and great-granddaughters Jordan Sackett, Brook Verm, Kaitlynn and Kassidy Shreve and Katherine Jackson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers - Mark Koehn, Mike Koehn, Christopher LaVergne, Hugh Marshall, Ben Marshall, Matt Jackson, and Rope Jackson.
