Jeraldine H "Jerry" Hardy

November 23, 1929 — February 27, 2016

Jeraldine H "Jerry" Hardy was born in Archer City, Texas on November 23, 1929 at her home. She lived there until she was 6 years old. Her family moved to Haldenville, OK in 1936 where she lived until she was 12 years old. She went to school at East Central Elementary School. In 1941, her family moved to Houston, TX. Jerry said that they didn''t have furniture, so her parents bought furniture from a furniture store downtown. When it was time to make a payment, Jerry would ride the bus with her sister to downtown Houston to make the payment. Her father went to work in the Shipyard. They didn''t live very long in that apartment before they moved to South Houston where they bought a house in the Pasadena School District. Jerry went to Jackson Junior High and Pasadena High School. Jerry met James "Buck" Hardy in 1943. He was drafted in the Army in 1944 and was there until 1945. When he was discharged he came home and worked in a refinery until he retired in 1987. In 1946, when Jerry was 16 and Buck was 19, they eloped in Richmond, TX. They were married by a Justice of the Peace. Buck had to get him out of the Pool Hall to marry them. They were married for 53 years until Buck passed away in 1999. In 1950, Jerry went to work for Industrial State Bank in Houston, TX. She worked there for 2 years, then went to work for Pasadena State Bank until 1957 when her only child, James "Marty" Hardy, was born. She went back to work at the Pasadena State Bank in 1963, and worked there until she retired in 1991. She was a Vice President by the time she retired. After Buck passed away, Jerry moved to LaPorte, TX. In 2004, Marty moved to Cat Spring, TX with his family. Jerry lived in La Porte until 2011 when she moved to Bellville, TX to live close to her son and family Friends who wish to give memorial gifts may give to: Hospice with Grace 14800 St. Mary's , Suite 175 Houston, Texas 77079 or to Dementia Alliance International 15602 Juniper Hollow Way Cypress, Texas 77433
