Jimmie Dean (Jim) Cantrell, 74, of Sealy, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 41 years, Salvina (Sali) Cantrell. Together, they built their home and moved to Sealy 29 years ago, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
Born on November 19, 1950, in Liberal, Kansas, Jim was the son of the late Charles and Lola Bernadine Cantrell. He grew up in Hugoton, Kansas, where he attended school before embarking on a distinguished military career. Jim served his country with dedication for 22 ½ years before retiring. Following his military service, he continued his hardworking nature by spending another 20 years with Diamond Offshore.
Jim’s legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his son, Travis K. Cantrell, and his wife, Luci, of San Antonio, Texas; and his stepsons, Gregory J. Duchow and his wife, Shelley, of Katy, Texas, and Stephen P. Duchow of Katy, Texas.
His greatest joy was being "Grandpa" to his seven grandchildren: Aspen Cantrell and Gwyneth Cantrell of San Antonio, Texas; Caleb Berger of San Antonio, Texas; and Isaac Duchow, Alyssa Duchow, Zachary Duchow, and Amber Seros of Katy, Texas.
Jim is also survived by his brother, JC Cantrell, and his sister, Sharon Garverick. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Glanda Sue Cox, Charles Cantrell, and Billy Ray Cantrell. He leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, all from Hugoton, Kansas.
Jim was a man of honor, known for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
