Jo Imogene Johnson

May 29, 1925 — September 18, 2017

Jo Imogene Johnson, “Nanny”, at the age of 92, passed from this life into what the next will hold for her, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Austin on the morning of September 18, 2017. She was born on May 5, 1925, in Goldthwaite, Texas.   She was preceded in death by her parents Mildred Laura Langford and Olen Albert Langford; her husband William Marrion Johnson, Jr, “Pa”, and his parents, Annie Mary Johnson and William Marrion Johnson Sr.; siblings Idonia, Millie, Campbell, Boyce, and William Wayne; her son in law, Dudley Hunt and daughter in law Kathy Hayden.   She is survived by her brothers John and Harmon Langford as well as her 3 children and their families; Cheryl Hunt-Osborn and her spouse Robby Osborn, William Marrion Johnson III, and Janice Day and her spouse Don Day. Her grandchildren; Gene Hunt, Sonia Hunt, Liberty Nicholas and her spouse Dean, William Marrion Johnson IV and his spouse Ashley, Zachary Johnson and spouse Laura, Rachael Livingston and her spouse Tommy, Hannah Allison and her spouse Forrest, and Bek Day; great grandchildren; Jared, Abigail, Anna, Jeremy, Jacob, Casey, Lily, Parker, Sterling, William Marion Johnson V, Christian, Emberlee, Preslee, Bradley, Lyra, Uriah, Kinzie, Finley, and 1 great great grandchild: Emory.   A model matriarch, she was the cornerstone of her family and  instilled in them a sense of heritage that has been shared for generations, and will continue to be passed on for generations more. She was a rock that was an immovable force when it came to supporting those she loved and lifting up any one who came to her and needed help. She was a role model of compassion, unconditional unwavering love, tolerance, forgiveness, and fierce determination for standing up for whatever you might believe.   In her last days, as she loved to do, she brought her family together to celebrate her life with her as she was given the strength, comfort, and confidence from God that she could untether herself from this world, surrender her mortal body to her Lord and Savior, and trust that her family would be there to continue to take care of each other in her absence.   This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it! - Psalm 118:24. Hallelujah! Amen.
