John Edward Crow

John Edward Crow was born February 7, 1927, in Baytown, Texas. He was the son of John Ray and Clyde Murphree Crow. John graduated from Baytown High School in 1945, the joined the United States Merchant Marines and traveled on ships around the world during World War II. He joined the United States Army, in September, 1950 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on September 20, 1952. John married Doris Lloyd on December 20, 1952, and they made their home in Houston, Texas. He completed training in the fire academy in July, 1958, and went to work for the Houston Fire Department. He worked his way up in rank from pipe and ladder to chauffer, then arson investigator and was the HFD polygraph operator. He retired in 1979, and continued to work as an in depended polygraph operator for many years. John and Doris also owned a bay house in Galveston and enjoyed their time together fishing and shrimping. They moved to Hempstead in 1990, and after Doris passed away in November, 2006, he moved to Palacios, with his son and daughter-in-law. John passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012, at his home in Palacios, Texas, at the age of 85. He is survived by his SON: Jerry Crow and his wife, Deborah, of Palacios; GRANDCHILDREN: Jason Crow and his wife, Cori, of Rusk, Melissa Failla and her husband, Robert, of Fulshear, Stacy Hobbs and her husband, Aaron, of College Station; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Mackenzie Crow, Lexi Harvey, Austin Crow, Sydnee Failla, Shelby Failla, Samantha Hobbs, Kaitlyn Hobbs, Jenna Hobbs; BROTHER: Bobby Crow and his wife, Mary, and SPECIAL FRIENDS: Charles and Jane Taylor and Tom and Glenda O'Banion. John was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Crow, his parents, and his sister, Mellie Crow. Special thanks to Hospice of El Campo, also Jan, Marie, Ellie and Vicki with Comfort Keepers of Victoria.
