John Peter Martine, Jr.

JOHN PETER “Johnny” MARTINE, JR., 75, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Bellville.

He was born February 7, 1948, in Brownsville, Texas, the son of John Peter and Elizabeth Barbara Moczygemba Martine.  Johnny grew up and attended schools in the Raymondville, Harmony, and Palestine areas, before graduating from Palestine High School.  After graduation, he attended Henderson Junior College, then Texas A&M University.  Johnny was employed as a contract administrator in the oil and gas industry.

He was united in marriage to Jo Lynn Bankston on March 9, 1974, in Baytown, Texas. Johnny and Lynn moved to Bellville in 2006, where they made their home.  They were members of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Rovin Texans Camping Club.  In his spare time, Johnny enjoyed growing grapes for making his wine, tending to his dogs, miniature goats, and donkeys, and working on tractors.

He is survived by his loving wife: Lynn Martine of Bellville; sons: John Lee Martine and his wife, Juliette, of Moncure, North Carolina, and Christopher Martine and his wife, Meghan, of Conroe; grandchildren: Christian, Ashleigh, Christopher, Megan, and Caitlin; great-grandchild: Alliana; siblings: Carilyn John and her husband, Robert, Marilyn Lautner and her husband, John, Samuel Martine, Daniel Martine, and his wife, Peggy, Mary Haynes and her husband, Tim, Paul Martine and his wife, Leeann, James Martine, and Barbara Halm and her husband, Leslie; and numerous other family members and dear friends.

Johnny was preceded by his parents: John and Elizabeth Martine.
