Deputy John Edward Moon, Jr.

Deputy John Edward Moon, Jr., 48, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at his home in Brookshire, Texas.

John was born September 10, 1973, in Houston, Texas, the son of John Edward Moon, Sr. and Donna Sue (Evans) Moon. He grew up in the Brookshire area, graduating from Royal High School. John was a member of Katy’s First Baptist Church. He was involved in various law enforcement related activities. John enjoyed the collecting and safety training of various bladed and shooting weapons.

Deputy John Moon was hired by the Waller County Sheriff’s Office in April of 1998. He started in detentions and worked his way up to patrol and investigations. Deputy Moon worked as a patrol supervisor as well as a detective before leaving in 2019. In April of this year, he was brought home and sworn in as a Deputy by Sheriff Guidry. Deputy Moon has deep roots with the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and his loss will be profoundly felt by everyone that knew and worked with him.

He is survived by his son: John Edward Moon, III of Fulshear; mother: Donna Moon of Brookshire; aunt: Shirley Spencer and husband, Cliff, of Spring; uncle: Donald Moon and wife, Ginnie, of Giddings; nephew: Cody LeVassar of Brookshire; and numerous cousins, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers.

John was preceded in death by his father, John E. Moon, Sr., and sister, Michelle Norred.
