John R. Pechacek entered into glory on May 16, 2021, at his home outside of Bellville, Texas. He goes to join his beloved wife, Dixie Pechacek, in the eternal presence of their Lord Jesus.
John was born September 23, 1939, in Crowell, Texas to Albin and Nellie Pechacek and grew up a farmer. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 1961 with a degree in accounting. He fell in love with Dixie, who was attending Texas University, and they were married that same year.
With his father-in-law, Robert Sauls, John founded the accounting firm Sauls & Pechacek in 1964 and worked for 57 years as a certified CPA. He provided exemplary auditing services to many cities, counties, schools, churches, and non-profits across the state of Texas. He served on various school boards and public service organizations, including terms as mayor of Bellville and president of the Bellville ISD School Board. He and his wife were committed members of Bellville United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Hempstead and contributed to many ministries such as Community Bible Study and Walk to Emmaus.
He enjoyed woodworking, at which he excelled, and travel. Most of all he loved children, especially his own and his grandchildren, and delighted in being involved in their lives and watching them grow.
John was a servant at heart, generous with his time and resources, always looking out for the needs of others. He was a good man, a loving husband and father, a doting grandfather, a faithful friend, and a living witness of Christ.
John is survived by his children: Amy and husband, Stephen Deutsch, Andy and wife, Nancy Pechacek, and Katy Linnabery; his grandchildren: Clint Pechacek, Brianna Deutsch, John Pechacek, Nick Deutsch, Ben and wife, Tynia Deutsch, Sam and wife, Briana Pechacek, Carlin Linnabery, and Haven Linnabery; his siblings: Louise Honkomp, George Pechacek, Jimmy Pechacek, Elmer Pechacek, Tommy Pechacek, and Mary Labay; and by many friends.
