Johnny “Cash” Joe Campos, 71, of Brookshire, Texas passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021, in Houston, Texas.
Johnny was born on August 24, 1950, in Fulshear, Texas to Ishmael and Isabelle (Salazar) Campos. He grew up and attended school in Brookshire. On July 3, 1971, Johnny was united in marriage with Mary Davila. Through his working years, he was a man of many talents, working in maintenance, custodial, and he also mowed lawns after work. Johnny could always be found singing Tejano music.
Johnny “Cash”s passion for music began in the cotton fields of West Texas. There he and his sisters would sing to pass the time. In the 60’s, he and his brothers formed the Group Los Dominates de Brookshire, currently known as Grupo Futuro. His passion for music continued up until his death. He and his brothers spent their entire lives bringing joy to everyone with their musical talent. When Johnny “Cash” was not working or singing, you could find him at home watching Western movies. He was a big fan of John Wayne.
He is survived by his sons: Johnny Joe Campos, Jr. and wife Andrea, of Sealy, and Michael Angelo Campos of Brookshire; sisters: Oralia Campos of Brookshire, Celia Hernandez of Brookshire, and Carmen Vialloboz and husband, Albert, of Katy; brothers: Jessie Campos and wife Lupe, of Brookshire and Lupe Campos and wife, Rosie, of Rosenberg; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his loving wife: Mary Campos; parents: Ishmael and Isabelle Campos; daughter: Carolyn Campos; brothers: Candelario and World Campos; and sister; Sylvia Galvan.
