Johnny Chavez, Jr.

JOHNNY CHAVEZ, JR., 58, of Sealy, Texas, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at his home.

He was born October 17, 1965, in East Bernard, Texas, the son of Johnny, Sr. and Emelia (Cortez) Chavez.  John grew up in the Simonton area, graduating from Brazos High School.  He was employed as a fort lift operator for Quikrete for many years.  John was united in marriage to Ophelia Frausto, on June 8, 2006, in Sealy, Texas.  He and Ophelia made their home in Sealy, where he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys Football, and the Houston Astros Baseball, going to church, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving wife: Ophelia Chavez; mother: Emelia Chavez; daughters: Nora Sosa, Christina Macha, and Amy Sosa; son: Rodney Sosa; fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters: Cheryl Barron and her husband, Jimmy, and Linda Perez and her husband, Ruben; bother: Pete Chavez; and numerous other family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: Johnny Chavez, Sr.

Pallbearers are Blake Alvarado, Gage Neumann, Ruben Perez, Willie Cortez, Spencer Britt, and Pete Chavez.
