Jon Michael "Mike" McNett

February 23, 1941 — February 10, 2015

Jon Michael McNett "Mike" was born February 23, 1941 in San Antonio, TX, the son of Andrew Jackson and Winnie Estalene McNett. Mike grew up and attended grade school and high school in San Antonio. Mike obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, Texas in January Nineteen Hundred sixty-four. Mike was a member of the Prairie Chapter CCA of Texas for many years and a member of the Washington County Bass Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas for around fifteen years. During this time Mike's passion was directing the youth activities and fishing tournaments. In his own youth his father inspired the love for fishing and hunting. One of Mike's interests was the love of running in local Fun Runs in Houston, Tx and Fayetteville, Arkansas for many years. While at Coca-Cola in Houston Mike registered Carol, Donna and himself in a Thanksgiving Fun Run. Their efforts yielded a first place for each of the three, which won them three turkeys for the Holidays. Mike played baseball in college which spawned an overall love of sports. If he was not watching sports events on TV, you could find him in the stands cheering on his favorite team, the Arkansas Razorbacks. A long and prosperous career in the food industry went hand and hand with his skills in the kitchen and on the grill. We will all remember a favorite recipe, and have his masterful Tyson cook book as a reminder. Mike was a devoted husband, dad and family man. He cherished family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas where he looked forward to spending time with his children and grandchildren. He treasured the time with his sisters, Jacquelyn and Sandra (Sandella) and their families. Mike married Carol in Eureka Springs, Arkansas January 1, 1990. They celebrated 25 years of marriage in Katy, Texas at the Saltgrass Steak House with their family. Together they enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, planning special events for their families and traveling to Texas every year for the holidays. Mike passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home in Fulshear, TX at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 13 days.
