Judith Diane Childress

JUDITH DIANE (MULLINS) CHILDRESS, 83, of Brookshire, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy. Judith was born June 18, 1935, in Houston, Texas to parents Richard Hugh and Corrine Mullins.  She grew up in Simonton and attended high school in Austin, Texas graduating from Austin High School. On April 30, 1955, Judith married Walter Anderson (Sonny) Childress in a small church near Austin.  After years of being away from Texas, they eventually made their home in Brookshire on the family property.  Judith is survived by her husband of 63 years:  Walter Childress of Brookshire; son:  Edward Owen Childress and his wife, Susan, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren:  Sandra (Childress) Nagy and her husband, Jason, of Katy, Kimberly Childress of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Michael Childress and his fiancée, Melanie, of Round Rock, Texas;  great granddaughter:  Cassie Nagy; cousins:  Richard (Ricky) Mullins and wife, Suzanne, of Brookshire, Corrine (Mullins) Solve and her husband, Bill, of Cannon Lake, Texas; sisters-in-law:  Mrs. Raymond (Bobby) Stobner of Victoria, Texas, Mrs. Royce D. (Betty) Thursby of Hahira, Georgia, Mrs. Mike (Bonnie Sue) Fischer of Bastrop, Texas, brother and sister-in-law:  Ralph and Brenda Childress of Nederland, Texas, and among her numerous dear friends are her very close and loving friends, Dean Lund and Jennifer Dirber, of Brookshire.  She was preceded in death by her father:  Richard Hugh Mullins, Sr. of Simonton; her son:  Monty Steven Childress of Houston; her brother:  Richard H. (Bubba) Mullins, Jr. of Brookshire; her mother: Corrine McCauley; step-father:  Robert Lee McCauley of Brookshire; and cousins:  Douglas Mullins of Brookshire and David Mullins of Simonton.
