Julia Lynn Sharon

April 15, 1941 — November 21, 2016

Julia Lynn Sharon, 75, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 in the arms of her husband and soul mate Carl Sharon. Julia was born April 15, 1941, in Enid, Oklahoma. The daughter of Harold and LaVerne Giles, and older sister to brother Louis Mark. She grew up in Enid along with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents near by. She attended school in Enid, graduating from Enid High School in 1959. Julia went on to attend Oklahoma Christian College for two years where she was involved in chorus. She moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma after her sophomore year and completed her Bachelor of Arts in English at Oklahoma State University. Her first teaching job was in Altamont, Kansas immediately after graduating. It was here that she met Terry Walker and they were married shortly after. Julia quickly became a Navy wife, school teacher and mother to two children, Gia Lenn and Timothy Lee. During this time Julia and Terry lived in Great Lakes, IL, Wahiawa, HI, San Diego, CA and Newport News, VA. Julia and Terry parted ways in 1974. Julia, Gia and Tim moved to Oklahoma City, where Julia began a 20+ year career in banking and finance. Julia met Carl Sharon in 1977 and they both quickly fell in love and were married on April 28, 1978. Carl and Julia enjoyed sharing many interests together. As members of a local Motorcycle Club in Oklahoma City they took several road trips on Carl's Honda Goldwing. The whole family became involved in RC airplanes, specifically gliders, taking many fun and hilarious family vacations to nationally organized RC glider competitions. In 1980 the family became active in Square Dancing and joined the Square Dancing club called “Travelin’ Squares”. The whole family enjoyed sharing that activity for several years and gained many life-long friends. Following Tim's high school graduation in 1987, Carl and Julia moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma then to Atlanta, Georgia in 1989 and finally to Houston, Texas in 1992. Throughout Julia's life she enjoyed many different activities, hobbies and experiences including: Sewing, cooking, music, sunsets, and fast cars - especially her 24-valve Oldsmobile Cutlass and later a 1998 Z-28 and 2001 Trans Am. Some of Julia’s most favorite activities included: attending theater & musical productions, reading, visiting a time share in Las Vegas for weekend getaways, directing Carl in construction and home remodeling projects, studying the History of England and English royalty, and achieving her dream of cruising on cruise ships. Julia cruised on ships so often that she obtained a Diamond Club status. For over 20 years Carl and Julia have owned their own airplane and had the opportunity to fly themselves to many places such as the Cayman Islands, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, KS, Phoenix, AZ, and Las Vegas, NV. Owning their own plane gave them the flexibility to fly to Oklahoma City and visit Gia and her husband Daryl Maloney and son Tim. Flying also allowed them to be present for the birth of each of their Grand Daughters Erin Elizabeth and Jenna Morgan.  Carl and Julia were also members of the Gulf Coast Antique Automobile Club where Julia became the editor of the newsletter. Julia remained the editor for over 9 years and during that time she was awarded Master Editor 8 years in a row. She also received the National Editor Award in 2011.  Julia will always be remembered for her huge smile, boisterous laugh, and enthusiastic conversation. She always kept a child-like curiosity about life and had a deep passion for the tastes of life experiences and stimulating activities. Always exuding a positive attitude and a “Don’t worry, be happy” outlook on life, made Julia so loved by everyone she met.  Julia will be dearly missed by family and friends, but today we celebrate her life with her final act.. Julia Sharon is survived by her husband of 38 years Carl Sharon. Daughter Gia, her husband Daryl Maloney, and grand daughters Erin Maloney and Jenna Maloney. Son Tim Walker and his fiance' Rebecca Ginn. Brother Louis Giles and his wife Peggy, and nieces Brooke Cox and Amber Beene.
