Kathleen Remmert Slovak

Kathleen Slovak, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt went to be with the Lord our Savior on September 6, 2017. Kathleen was born July 11, 1941, Bellville, Texas, to her parents Dennis and Vera Mae (Goeke) Remmert. She was baptized on August 3, 1941, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy, Texas, and later confirmed on May 29, 1955. Her memory verse was Colossians 3:17 “Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Kathleen grew up and attended schools in Bellville. Kathleen was united in marriage to Edwin Edward “Sonny” Slovak on February 28, 1958, in Sealy, Texas. They made their home in Bellville and were members of the St. John Lutheran Church. They were blessed with four children. Kathleen loved children and taught Sunday school for many years. She also did baby sitting in her home as her children grew older. Later, when grandchildren came, she enjoyed baking special birthday cakes for each one. On weekends, the grandchildren would visit her and learned how to cook, played games, and did craft projects. Kathleen was an avid reader of books and magazines as well as her Bible. She generously supported ministries at St. John and other religious organizations. Kathleen is survived by her daughters: Valerie Babin and her husband, David, and Melanie Wesolick and her special friend, Michael Davis; son: Buddy Slovak and his wife, Christine; grandchildren: Regan Taylor and her husband, Josh, Logan, Jordan and Caitlan Slovak, Kayleigh Walcik and her husband, Dusty, Stephen Babin and fiancé, Samantha Beacher, Allayne Babin, Cody Wesolick, Dakota and Dawnielle Slovak; sisters: Betty Thomas, Judy Robertson, Nancy Krueger, Christine Pieper, and their spouses; three sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
